Lower School

The Lower School at Westtown includes one section of preKindergarten and two sections each of Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. Each of these sections have 16 - 19 students with major parts of the day divided into small group work ranging from 9 to 12 students. Kindergarten through 5th grades are full day programs from 8:10 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.

PreKindergarten will have three options:
Full Day - 5 days per week (8:10 a.m. to 3:15pm)
Half Day - 5 days per week (8:10 a.m. to noon)
Combination - 2 Half days (Monday & Friday) and 3 Full Days (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)

The Admissions Process

Three options are available to request an Information Packet and an Application:

Attend an Open House to become familiar with our programs and facilities. If it is inconvenient for you to attend an Open House, contact Ronnie Montgomery, Associate Director of Admissions, at 610-399-7904 to arrange a tour.

TO APPLY
Complete the Lower/Middle School application online with an electronic $50.00 application fee (or you may mail us the application fee by printing a voucher).

or

Mail in the paper application with a check for $50.00.

If you submit the Lower/Middle School application online, you will be able to monitor the various steps of the admission process. This is not available if you submit a paper application.

ADDITIONAL FORMS
After November 15, please download the appropriate additional forms needed to complete the admissions process. They need to be submitted by January 15 to be considered in our first round of acceptances on February 1.

Teacher Recommendation and Record Release Forms – Sign release portion and submit to your current school with a return envelope addressed to the Westtown School Admissions Office. These forms are confidential and must be sent from your child’s teacher directly to Westtown School.

Parent Questionnaire - Parent completes and mails directly to Westtown School Admissions Office.

Please note that we do not require outside psycho-educational testing; we conduct our own as you will see below.  However, if your child has undergone testing previously, we would like you to submit a copy of the results.

TESTING for preKindergarten and Kindergarten Applicants:
The Admissions Office will contact you to schedule an appointment for testing.  Small groups of children will spend an hour with our school psychologist, and preKindergarten and Kindergarten teachers for an evaluation that assists in determining developmental readiness. During the visit, parents will have an opportunity to view classes in session and ask questions about our program.

TESTING for First through Fifth Grades:
The Admissions Office will contact you to schedule an appointment for testing. Children will visit with our school psychologist for approximately one hour.  A variety of age-appropriate tests are performed.  During the visit, parents will have an opportunity to view classes in session and ask questions about our program.

First round of Admissions Application Deadline: January 15
First Round of Admissions Decision Dates: Decisions will be made during the first week in February.
Notification Deadline: March 1: Date by which parents of day students must notify Westtown of "intent to enroll".
Applying for Late Consideration after February 1: After February 1, applications and acceptance decisions will be considered on a rolling admissions basis. We encourage you to contact the Admissions Office to inquire whether spaces are available.
