Athletic Program
ATHLETICS: A WINNING EXPERIENCE…
At Westtown, we play to win. And while we’re proud of our many undefeated teams and league championships over the years, winning is only part of the Westtown experience—because our athletic program does so much more. Interscholastic athletics and the physical education program encourage healthy athletic competition while providing opportunities to develop skills, teamwork and self-confidence. Because athletics is an integral part of Westtown's educational program, students are expected to strive for and achieve high standards, just as in the classroom. We require interscholastic competition for all Middle and Upper School students, providing a range of offerings so that everyone is challenged and successful. Our teams have enjoyed considerable success, allowing many of our athletes to compete with distinction in college and beyond. And Westtown’s exceptional athletic facilities—a state-of-the-art Athletic Center dedicated in 2007, 14 tennis courts, 2 cross country courses, 10 playing fields including one softball and two baseball diamonds, and a brand-new all-weather track—support the development of generations of talented athletes.
…FOR EVERYONE
Whether you're a varsity-level player, someone who simply thrives on competition, or a newcomer to competitive sports, Westtown has a place for you. Every student benefits from our strong, wide-ranging athletic program which includes 21 varsity teams. Respect for coaches, teammates and opponents is essential as Westtown athletes aspire to achieve individual and team goals. Winning and losing are intrinsic to athletics, and both provide opportunities for growth and improvement. You’ll learn to perfect your skills, keep your body in great condition, be a good sport, and boost your team. And as you take positive risks and reach toward our high standards, you’ll gain the discipline and self-confidence that carries you through league games, championships, and on into college athletics.
