The Athletic Center was completed in 2007. Environmentally-friendly new construction was integrated with an existing physical education complex. The AC contains 4 basketball courts (which also double as volleyball and indoor tennis courts), indoor track, dedicated wrestling room, 25-meter pool, fitness center, dance studio, training room, locker facilities and meeting spaces.
One of the best things about having a 600 acre campus is the luxury of many beautiful playing fields and competition areas! Westtown boasts nine well-manicured fields, spread out across our vast campus.
The natatorium has a 25-meter pool that is used by Lower School Physical Education and by Middle and Upper School’s swim teams. The Westtown Aquatic Program practices here as well. It is located on the ground floor of the Athletic Center. Use the Main Entrance (west side of campus) off Westtown Road.
Tucked into the woods, the Ropes Course is part of our Outdoor Education Program. The course features both high and low elements for a total of 22 different elements, including the “Flying Squirrel” and the “Multi-Vine”.
The beautiful Stadium Courts have 14 all-weather courts and a large gallery section. In addition to the 3 indoor courts in the Athletic Center, Westtown has a total of 17 tennis courts on campus. Parking for the Stadium Courts is adjacent to Balderston Commons. Use the Main Entrance (west side of campus) off Westtown Road.
The 14.5-acre lake at Westtown was created in 1912 from swimming and skating ponds constructed in the 1860s. A refurbishment was completed in 2015, which included upgrading the dam and the docks at the Lake House. The lake is home to abundant and diverse wildlife. Different species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish can all be spotted while exploring their habitat. Students learn and practice canoe skills on the lake, as well as have picnics, community gatherings, meditation and mindfulness practices, and walks around the lake.
