Swim School

This is a learn-to-swim program that teaches an advanced progression of swimming in a two-week period. This program is designed to help swimmers of all ages be safe in the water. All swimmers will be evaluated on the first day and placed according to their skill level. As swimmers learn and perform skills proficiently, they will be challenged to learn the next skill in the progression. Beginners will initially be taught the self-rescue survival float, which will allow them to remain calm and confident in a stressful situation. Instruction is capped at a 5:1 ratio. Swimmers will attend swim lessons from 4:00 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. after the camp day is complete. Swimmers must be at least four years old and entering PreK. Please make sure all swimmers have an extra swimsuit and towel with them to change into at the end of the camp day.

A learn-to-swim program that teaches an advanced progression of swimming in a two-week period.

Skill Levels:

  • Beginner: Children age five and younger who cannot yet jump in, surface on their back, and swim 10-15 yards to safety. Once they learn this skill, they will progress to Advanced Beginner.
  • Novice: Children who are age six and older who cannot float on their back or perform any arm strokes with their face in the water. Once these swimmers gain confidence and begin to perform arm strokes with their face in the water, they will progress to Advanced Beginner.
  • Advanced Beginner: Any swimmer who is safe in the water but cannot yet swim freestyle with four continuous arm strokes and breathing to the side. Once these swimmers are able to swim 15 yards, breathing to the side every four strokes without lifting their head, they will progress to Intermediate.
  • Intermediate: Any swimmers who can swim freestyle proficiently. At this level, swimmers will continue to work on their freestyle, and instructors will introduce the backstroke. This skill level is designed to implement both freestyle and backstroke drills as well as learning to efficiently tread water. Once these swimmers can swim 25 yards of proficient freestyle and backstroke as well as tread water for two minutes, they will progress to Pre-competitive.
  • Pre-Competitive: Designed for swimmers who are proficient in freestyle and backstroke and would like to begin to learn breaststroke and butterfly while still working on their freestyle and backstroke skills. Once these swimmers have completed a session, they will be recommended to join a competitive swim team.
